Web4 feb. 2024 · Traditionally, rennet is a meat product. It comes from the lining of the stomach of ruminants (animals that chew their cud). Yet, there are also non-animal sources of rennet. That is the type of rennet most commonly used in kosher cheese production. Those are labeled on standard kosher cheeses as “kosher rennet” or “vegetarian rennet.” WebKosher rules for cows, referred to as “shechitah”, involve a careful and specific process of slaughtering and preparing the animal in accordance with Jewish law. The process is guided by a set of regulations laid out in the Torah, which dictate how the cow must be treated from the moment it is born until the moment it is slaughtered and consumed.
